- A library with an added program of music development.
The site in Frogtown has a radio station, but the recording studio was closed due to COVID.
This library brings back that opportunity for the locals to develop music.
The library is built on the concept of repeating units that are divided by the circulation
space. On one side, the units act as interior walls enclosed in glass, whereas, on the other
side, the units act as exterior walls with volumes nested in them. The music development is
mainly above the ground, creating a quiet underground library space.
- A structure that is created through repeating units. The units are rotated in different
directions to create space. The central wall is the circulation that runs through the entire
structure. The spine is the central circulation system. The units act as exterior and
interior walls.
The central wall divides the units, and the units on the other side are scaled bigger,
creating different sizes of spaces throughout the structure. The rotation of units also
creates spaces with different heights. The library stack is the unit walls extended into the
ground creating a space that lets people look down.
The pocket spaces in between act as performance areas, letting people who are biking or just
visiting the park experience the local music.
